Pratibha Patil is an Indian politician who made history by becoming the first woman President of India. She served as the 12th President of the country from 2007 to 2012. Her long political career, dedication to social service, and commitment to women's empowerment have made her one of the most respected women leaders in Indian politics.Pratibha Patil was born on December 19, 1934, in Nadgaon, a small village in the Jalgaon district of Maharashtra, India. Her father, Narayanrao Patil, a public prosecutor, strongly believed in education and encouraged his daughter to pursue her studies and succeed in life. Growing up in a supportive environment instilled confidence and ambition in Pratibha from an early age.She completed her early education in Jalgaon and later pursued higher education at Mulji Jetha College in Jalgaon, where she earned a master's degree in political science and economics. She then studied law at the Government Law College in Mumbai. During her college days, she was not only a bright student but also actively participated in sports and extracurricular activities. She even won several table tennis championships at the college level.Studying law and political science piqued her interest in public service and politics.Pratibha Patil began her political career at a very young age. At the age of 27, she contested the 1962 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections from the Edlabad seat as a member of the Indian National Congress.
